Membaca ?


Kita sure pernah baca mengenai rakyat Malaysia yang kurang membaca. Suka atau tidak itu hakikat dia. Aku sendiri suatu masa dahulu memang kaki membaca, sekarang makin kureng. Nasib baik kerja kat tempat simpan buku-buku jadi kiranya setiap hari membelek buku jugak, sambil-sambil merekod dan buat catalog buku, sempat selak helai-helaian yang menarik membelek.

Kita buat Pesta Buku, kita rasa cam best sangat, tapi sebenarnya kita syok sendiri..tak percaya cuba baca komen seorang editor dari Indonesia ini :

"Kalau kau lihat, mungkin kau akan geli sendiri. Pasti kau menyangka selera baca mereka tinggi karena Malaysia lebih maju daripada kita. Ternyata tidak. Penerbit-penerbit kita berani menerbitkan buku-buku bertema serius semacam filsafat dan pemikiran, mereka tidak. Dalam hal buku agama Islam saja misalnya, mereka cuma menerbitkan buku-buku panduan fiqh sederhana seperti tuntunan shalat dan doa. Buku-buku self-improvement pun tidak seramai di Indonesia."

Sedikit marah? tetapi itu benar. Aku sendiri memang kaki novel, lebih membaca novel berbanding buku-buku heavy yg lain. Macam aku katakan tadi, membaca novel aku boleh sungguh-sungguh mahu habiskan. Buku serius yang lain, helai demi helai, rasa macam lambatnya nak habis. Macam aku kata tadi, mujur aku kerja tempat orang membaca buku jadi setidak-tidak aku memang membaca serba sedikit jugak untuk memudahkan aku memberikan kelas subjek bahan itu perlu dikategorikan. sedikit sebanyak info masuk dan melekat di kepala.

Ini aku di jabatan kecil, yang koleksi bukunya terhad, tetapi semasa di Perpustakaan Negara Malaysia, setiap hari bertimbun buku masuk dihantar penerbit untuk simpanan koleksi khazanah negara. Seronok sangat. Nak baca ambik jer. Buku-buku sekarang bukan main mahal. Nak beli sebuah novel pun aku boleh dapatkan seekor ayam, dan sekilo ikan kembung, seiikat sayur malah ada belen-belen nak beli udang ke sotong sikit. Seekor ayam, kami tiga beranak boleh tiga kali masak. Sekilo ikan kembung boleh masak kari dua ekor, esok masak taucu. Dengan membeli sebuah novel, aku mengorbankan belanja dapur untuk seminggu. Kalau aku memang mewah duit ringgit apalah sangat 29.90 tu kan? Tetapi dalam keadaan kami, utamakan yang perlu dulu la, tapi aku memang tak miss beli majalah, tengok isu masa best, Keluarga or Perempuan. (Oh noo aku tak beli Majalah Wanita dan jelita, rugi...iklan banyak sangat)

Tetapi masih boleh membaca, kat sini pun ada library untuk penduduk Putrajaya, aku ada member opis memang kaki buku dan dia tak kisah pinjamkan aku. sebenarnya bahan bacaan itu boleh kita perolehi tanpa perlu membeli, pergi sahaja ke library. Dan jangan tidak tahu anda berhak request buku apa yang perlukan. Ini kata dari seorang pustakawan ni...orang jer tak tau.. Fungsi library adalah memberikan rujukan/pinjaman kepada ahlinya. So kalau sesuatu buku tidak ada dalam koleksi, kita boleh isi borang dan request library sediakan, malah kita juga boleh adakan inter library loan. Pinjam dengan library lain dengan kuasa yang telah ditanda tangani bersama. Sebenarnya service dah ada, tetapi ramai tidak tahu.

Semasa di universiti, kami student Library Management memang demand kalau pergi library, tak ada jer buku di cari, kami request inter library loan, kami request library beli, kami tahu klasifikasi bahan kat mana. Dan kami tahu kalau library kita tak ada buku itu, kita boleh minta pustakawan kat library kita sediakan surat refer untuk kita pergi ke library lain, masa student dulu kami selalu pergi library UKM, UIA, INTAN dll. so adik-adik yang masih di universiti ni sila maklum ye...macam aku sendiri kadang-kadang ada jer budak 'sekolah' area bangi, serdang, cyberjaya ni 'walk in' jer nak datang refer dokumen kat library aku. Sorry la bo layan. Tambah kalau jenis datang bawak henpon berkamera, baju senteng, seluar ketat, gaya mewah kalah orang dah bekerja, datang naik kereta, memang aku suruh balik, minta surat refer dari pustakawan universiti/kolej mereka, mengesahkan bahan mereka perlu tidak ada di library mereka dan mereka perlu rujuk sini.

Tapi kalau yang datang tu muka kampung, bila tanya datang dengan siapa? Naik apa, dia jawab naik bas, baju pun naif macam aku masa budak sekolah dulu, mintak pula IC, tengok alamat memang dari kampung, tak sampai hatilah nak suruh dia balik, just kasi warning jer, lain kali jangan buat macam ni, nak pergi library mana pun perlu surat dari library dia, takat student ID tak layan nyer..

Jadi ketahuilah hak anda sebagai pengguna library dan membacalah untuk keseronokan sendiri.
